Judge Roumel was appointed to the United States Court of Federal Claims in 2020 and was designated by President Trump to serve as the court’s Chief Judge from 2020-2021. She serves as Chairman of the court’s Advisory Council for Intellectual Property, serves on the court’s Pro Bono Policy Committee, and served as Chairman of the court’s Attorney Discipline Panel.

Judge Roumel previously served in the White House as Deputy Counsel to the Vice President and on President Trump’s oversight and impeachment-defense teams. Prior to her tenure at the White House, she served as Assistant General Counsel in the U.S. House of Representatives Office of General Counsel, where she advised and represented the U.S. House of Representatives, Members of Congress, and congressional staff in federal trial and appellate courts across the country.

Prior to entering public service, Judge Roumel was a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP, in Charleston, South Carolina, and taught intellectual property law as an adjunct professor at the Charleston School of Law. Judge Roumel began her career in New York City at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, LLP and Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, LLP. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable William H. Pauley III, United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York.

Judge Roumel received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Tulane Law School, where she graduated Order of the Coif and was an Editor of the Tulane Law Review. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Advisory Editors for the Tulane Law Review. Judge Roumel also received her M.B.A. from Tulane University's A.B. Freeman School of Business. She earned her B.A., cum laude, from Wake Forest University.

Judge Roumel is a Liaison Member of the Administrative Conference of the United States and a Judicial Counselor in the Giles S. Rich American Inn of Court, focused on intellectual property issues.
