Chief Judge Patricia E. Campbell-Smith announces the appointment of Mindy Michaels Roth as a Special Master of the Vaccine Program

On October 19, 2015 Chief Judge Patricia E. Campbell-Smith of the United States Court of Federal Claims (USCFC) announced the appointment of Mindy Michaels Roth as Special Master of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (Vaccine Program) within the USCFC. Special Master Roth will carry out the functions authorized by the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, 42 U.S.C. §§ 300aa-1 to -34, including the conduct of proceedings to determine compensation under the Vaccine Program.

Court Operating Status - September 22 - 24

Due to Pope Francis' upcoming visit, the Court of Federal Claims will be closed to the public beginning at 3:00pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 - Thursday, September 24, 2015. The Clerk's Office will be deemed inaccessible for filing on both September 23rd & 24th. The Court will reopen for normal business hours on Friday, September 25, 2015.

SEPTEMBER 24th CONFERENCE IS CANCELLED

The United States Court of Federal Claims and the Court of Federal Claims Bar Association are very disappointed to announce that we must cancel the court's 28th Annual Judicial Conference scheduled for September 24, 2015. The expected crowds, road closures, and extensive law enforcement presence for the visit of Pope Francis continue to increase on a daily basis, making the logistical challenge of putting on a successful conference in downtown Washington, DC, insurmountable.

Special Master Nora Beth Dorsey succeeds as Chief Special Master of the Vaccine Program

Chief Judge Patricia E. Campbell-Smith of the United States Court of Federal Claims (USCFC) announces the succession on September 1, 2015, of Special Master Nora Beth Dorsey to the position of Chief Special Master of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (Vaccine Program), located within the USCFC by the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, codified at 42 U.S.C. §§ 300aa-1 to -34. Special Master Denise Vowell will continue to serve as Special Master until her retirement at the end of September.

Death Announcement: Senior Judge Francis M. Allegra, 1957-2015

Senior Judge Francis Marion Allegra, of the United States Court of Federal Claims, died Thursday, August 27, 2015. Judge Allegra was appointed to the United States Court of Federal Claims by President William Clinton on October 22, 1998. He took senior status in 2013, and retired on June 23, 2015.

Death Announcement: Senior Judge Wilkes Coleman Robinson, 1925-2015

Senior Judge Wilkes Coleman Robinson, of the United States Court of Federal Claims, died Monday, May 11, 2015. Judge Robinson was appointed to the United States Court of Federal Claims by President Ronald Reagan on May 7, 1987. He formally retired on July 31, 1997, but continued to serve the court during periods of recall as a Senior Judge.

Judge Robinson was born in Anniston, Alabama in 1925. He graduated from the University of Alabama, receiving an A.B. degree in 1948 and from the University of Virginia School of Law, receiving a LL.B. degree in 1951.
