Death Announcement: Senior Judge Francis M. Allegra, 1957-2015

Senior Judge Francis Marion Allegra, of the United States Court of Federal Claims, died Thursday, August 27, 2015. Judge Allegra was appointed to the United States Court of Federal Claims by President William Clinton on October 22, 1998. He took senior status in 2013, and retired on June 23, 2015.

Judge Allegra was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 14, 1957. He received his B.A. from Borromeo College of Ohio in 1978 and his J.D. from Cleveland State University in 1981. He clerked for Chief Trial Judge Philip R. Miller at the U.S. Court of Claims from 1981-1982, then worked as an associate at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey in Cleveland until 1984. He moved to the Tax Division of the Department of Justice serving in many capacities, and finally as Deputy Associate Attorney General from 1994-1998, when he was appointed to the bench.
