The Women in IP Law Action Group (WIP) hosted a successful luncheon panel at IPL Spring. WIP Chair Lisa Dunner led a distinguished panel in discussing implicit bias. Panel participants were Judge Susan G. Braden, Chief Judge of the U. S. Court of Federal Claims, former Section Chair Marylee Jenkins, a partner at Arent Fox in New York, and Esther Lim, a partner in Finnegan & Henderson’s Washington D. C. office. The discussion was both informative and thought-provoking as panel members talked about their own experiences in encountering different forms of bias.

The Section was honored to welcome keynote speaker Andrei Iancu, the new Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO, who addressed the group regarding current issues and the future direction of the Office. Director Iancu’s comments highlighted the roles and contributions of women inventors throughout history and in the present day.

The luncheon is always a highlight of IPL Spring, and ABA-IPL is grateful to Director Iancu, and the panel participants. The Section thanks our sponsors, Premium Gold Sponsor McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Ltd. and Gold Level Sponsors Logikcull and Senniger Powers, LLP., whose generous support made the luncheon possible.
